Blue Moon
The term "Blue Moon"
is used to describe the second full moon when a full moon occurs
twice in the same calendar month. It happens once every 2.7
years and never in the month of February because there are not
enough days. The moon does not actually turn blue, though in
late September 1950, the moon in eastern North America actually
did appear blue. This occurred due to smoke from forest fires in
western Canada. |
