Proclaiming a Holiday
Often we are asked how to proclaim a holiday and have it recognized locally, nationally or internationally. Here are some steps you can take:

1. Contact your local congress with a proposal which they may put on the congressional agenda. This process can take years.
2. Some holidays are unofficially proclaimed but are sponsored by corporations, organizations, charities and which are advertised and promoted by those sponsors. (Example - February is National Cherry Month sponsored by the Cherry Marketing Institute of America)
This is often the easiest way to 'proclaim a holiday' especially for a company or organization. For individuals, contact any professional organizations you are a member of, to get the ball rolling on recognition days for your profession.
3. Some holidays are fabricated and copyrighted in hopes they will be accepted and acknowledged, therefore allowing the individual to profit from the success and interest.  We do not knowingly list these on the Earth Calendar.

If you wish to have a holiday listed on the Earth Calendar, please provide the following on our Contact form:

1. Name of the Holiday
2. Sponsoring body if applicable
3. The period of the holiday, for example, always August 19th, the third Sunday in July, etc
4. Online verification including link to sponsoring body if applicable.
5. Official contact information.
